Parkway North HOV Lanes Reopening

The lanes have been closed during the latest phase of the !-279 rehabilitation.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - For North Hills motorists who have struggled with the Parkway North reconstruction since last year, here’s some good news: The I-279 High Occupancy Vehicle lanes in the city and Ross will reopen at 3 p.m. on Friday.

The HOV lanes will remain open in the outbound direction through Labor Day, with normal operations resuming Sept. 4 at 6 a..m. In case you’ve forgotten, normal operating hours are:

Inbound

  • Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Two or more passengers required.

Outbound

  • Monday through Friday 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Two or more passengers required.
  • Monday through Friday 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Unrestricted use.
  • Friday 7 p.m. through Monday 4 a.m. Unrestricted use.

Improvements made to the HOV lanes during the closure include new gates, updated signage, upgraded control system, and a wrong-way detection system.
