Phantom Fireworks Coming To North Hills Village

You could say the space the retailer is taking over - the TJ Buffet Sushi and Grill - is going out with a bang.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - TJ Buffet Sushi and Grill in North Hills Village has closed, but the space won’t be vacant long. Phantom Fireworks, whose stands are ubiquitous around southwestern Pennsylvania as Independence Day annually approaches, plans to open its first permanent Pittsburgh-area store there.

And it will be selling fireworks that were illegal for state residents to purchase just months ago.

A provision of the state budget finalized last October permits Pennsylvania residents to purchase high-octane fireworks whose sale previously had been restricted to out-of-state residents.

Previously only able to buy items such as sparklers and novelties, Pennsylvanians now can purchase firecrackers, Roman candles, bottle rockets and other explosives with a maximum of 50 mg of explosive material.
