Rebuilding Begins At Ross Office Building Destroyed By Fire

The owner hopes to lure back several of his former tenants, including the Studio Raw Hair Salon.

Six week and a few days after  building at 3185 Babcock Blvd., the rebuilding has begun.

Demolition crews moved in over the weekend, to remove the top floors of the building.

"The plan is to preserve the ground floor and foundation, and build up from there," said the building's owner, Peter Ferraro, a Ross Township commissioner.

Most of the tenants, including .

"We are talking with the tenants, hoping they will all come back," said Ferraro. "The building will be brand new, with updated heating and air conditioning, it should be a very nice space when it's all said and done."

Ross Township's fire marshal said investigators have pinpointed the origin of the fire.

"It started in the ceiling above the Studio Raw hair salon," said Fire Marshal John Reubi. "We think it was an electrical problem, but because the fire was so intense, we can't say for absolute certainity. For that reason, the cause will be listed as undetermined."

However, Reubi does not suspect foul play.

"We've found nothing out of the ordinary to suggest this was anything other than an accidental fire," said Reubi.
