Ross Looking To Hire Crossing Guard

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - Want to pick up a little cash while performing a valuable service during the upcoming school year? The township is looking for a part-time crossing guard to fill in when regular crossing guards are absent.

Work hours are Monday through Friday and cover hours between 6:30 and 9:30 a.m. and 1:45 to 4:30 p.m. Crossing guard posts range from 45 minutes to 2.5 hours. The position pays $17 an hour.

Thnk the job is easy? Crossing guards must be courteous to the public. They have to be observant and alert, and be able to stand for long periods of time. They have to be able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend at the knees, and move arms in multiple directions. And the job often leaves you exposed to bad weather.

Specific duties include escorting children across the street, and on and off the school bus, along with stopping traffic as necessary. Guards must be familiar with basic traffic control signals and be able to apply these to the job. Training will be provided upon selection.
