Ross Police Chief Gets No Confidence Vote From Officers Union
Ross Police Chief Joseph Ley continues to take heat for his handing of an incident involving a police sergeant.
ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA — The Ross Township Police Association has taken another no confidence vote in Chief Joseph Ley. The vote was taken after recent revelations regarding a police sergeant's handling of a sexually explicit video involving a North Hills High School student.
Township commissioners last week confirmed that the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office has been notified of the sergeant's conduct. He is accused in a letter the police department union sent to township commissioners of sharing the video with other officers not involved in his investigation of it.
In a release regarding the no confidence vote, the union said Ley was aware of the incident but took no action.

“Instead of appropriately addressing this serious matter, Chief Ley was adversarial with our member who reported the misconduct," the release stated. "It is suspected that this matter was not handled with the urgency it required because the officer accused of the misconduct is aligned with Chief Ley."
Ley has not yet commented on that controversy or the no confidence vote.
