ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - Township Police have issued a warning about a new phone scam targeting people. Several people have reported receiving a call from someone falsely claiming to be a debt collection agency working for Ross-West View Emergency Medical Services.
The warning doesn’t just apply to Ross and West View residents, as some targets of the scammer don’t live in areas the EMS services. Other targets hadn’t received services from the EMS.
Police caution that people receiving such calls should be suspicious of those soliciting cash payments by phone or asking for store-bought gift cards as payment. Always verify with whom you are speaking by calling a number known to be used by that person or organization and not provided by the person on the phone or anyone who left a message.
