Ross Tax Collector Hospitalized After House Fire

Jerry O'Brien, Ross tax collector since 2013, was in his basement office when the fire began.

ROSS TOWNSHIP PA - Ross tax collector and former township commissioner Jerry O’Brien was hospitalized after a fire Wednesday at his home on Sally Ann Drive.

O’Brien was working in a basement office when the fire broke out. He opened the garage door and was helped out of the home by neighbors who noticed the smoke.

O’Brien was taken to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. WTAE-TV reported his dog perished in the fire, the cause of which has yet to be determined.

O’Brien was a township commissioner from 2000 to 2013, when he was elected tax collector.
