Students & Staff in North Hills School District Celebrate Holidays by Giving Back
North Hills students and staff donated thousands of items and helped to raise thousands of dollars for those in need.

Across North Hills School District, various students and student organizations and staff participated in service activities throughout the holiday season.
In total their donations – both financial and in-kind, to numerous charitable organizations totaled more than $20,000. Throughout Christmas week, we will highlight some of the charitable efforts of North Hills students and staff:
- McIntyre Elementary students contributed $559.29 to Habitat for Humanity. They raised the money by paying $1 each week to wear the colors of nations from around the world.
- NHSD faculty contributed $1,360 to the Elves Fund to provide financial assistance this holiday season to NHSD families. The annual charitable drive is organized by the North Hills Educational SupportPersonnel Association (ESPA), and this holiday season marks the 23rd year for this charitable tradition.
- North Hills Senior High Hands for ServiceClub adopted the new baby rhino at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.
- North Hills Junior High eighth-grade students donated $1,600 to the North Hills Backpack Initiative through the annual Turkey Trot.
- Ross Elementary families contributed 140 gifts and donated $85 in cash and gift cards for children in need throughout Allegheny County. Done in partnership by the PTA and Ross Student Council, this year was the first time the building was involved in the Allegheny County Holiday Project.
