Will Ross and West View Wake Up to a White Christmas?

This is what forecasters at the National Weather Service in Moon Township are saying....

Snow showers are in the forecast beginning Thursday through Saturday.. and it appears there is at least a 50-percent chance snow will still be on the ground Christmas morning.

Here is the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

  • Thursday Night: Rain and snow showers, becoming all snow after 1am. Low around 29. Southeast wind 13 to 17 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Friday: Snow showers. High near 33. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
  • Friday Night: Snow showers. Low around 26. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
  • Saturday: Snow showers likely, mainly before 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
  • Saturday Night: A slight chance of snow showers before 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 34.
  • Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24.
  • Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35.
  • Christmas Eve: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.
  • Christmas Day: A chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

  • The Pittsburgh region's largest recorded snowfall in one day during the month of December occurred on Dec. 17, 1890, when 22 inches of snow accumulated.
