Work Underway To Address McKnight Road Flooding

A damaged pipe is to blame for last week's high water.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - Repairs to an antiquated stormwater pipe blamed for recent flooding along McKnight Road could cost as much as $100,000. The township publics works department already has begun work to fix the problems.

The pipe runs along McKnight Road primarily on private property, so the various property owners ultimately would be responsible for the cost. Last week’s flooding at the intersection of McKnight and Seibert roads was caused by a damaged pipe on the site of a former mattress store.

A township public works crew has begun repairing the pipe.

Township commissioner Steve Korbel told WPXI-TV that private property owners can’t be permitted to ignore McKnight Road flooding.

"They need to spend the money on it and they need to make repairs, because if someone loses property or even worse if someone loses their life on McKnight Road due to flooding, they could ultimately be held responsible," Korbel said.
