LCCC Announces New Early Learning Center Administrator
LCCC Announces New Early Learning Center Administrator effective July 1, 2016
Elizabeth D. Lipman has been appointed Administrator of Lehigh Carbon Community College’s (LCCC) Early Learning Center effective July 1. Lipman earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education, nursery through sixth grade, from State University of New York at Old Westbury. She started at LCCC in 2006 and has worked as a child care teacher both part-time and full-time. She also has served as interim director.
Also beginning July 1, the Early Learning Center will begin its new half-day preschool program, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program adheres to the Reggio Emilia approach, which emphasizes meaningful play experiences and challenging learning opportunities within classroom environments that are designed to meet the child’s individual needs. The program is open to the public as well as children of LCCC staff and students. Children can attend the program for two, three or five days a week. The Early Learning Center is nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and has earned the top rating from the state Keystone STARS.
Operating since 1972, the Early Learning Center accepts children ages 3 to 5. In addition to a preschool program, the ELC serves as a lab school for students in the college’s Early Childhood Education program, as well as many of the healthcare programs, giving college students real-life experiences by working with young children.
