LCCC Helping Students Improve Their English

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) is offering courses at all levels to help students improve their English speaking skills. The following English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are held at LCCC’s Donley Center on Hamilton Street in Allentown, Pa. All levels offer a daytime class held 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or an evening course from 6 to 9 p.m. The fee for each course is $160.

ESL 1 course teaches beginner and low intermediate students. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays on the following dates:

July 5 through Aug. 18; Sept. 6 through Oct. 20 and Nov. 1 through Dec. 20

A second level course, ESL 2, is for high-intermediate to advanced ESL students. The following classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays.

July 6 through Aug. 22; Sept. 7 through Oct. 24 and Oct. 31 through Dec. 14

A new ESL 3 level course will be offered for advanced individuals who have successfully completed ESL 2 or who are referred by credit ESL. Sessions are held Tuesdays and Thursdays on the following dates:

July 5 through Aug. 18; Sept. 6 through Oct. 20 and Nov. 1 through Dec. 20

Speaking Skills, a speaking and listening class for intermediate students, will be held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., September 10 through December 17.

For classes in September or November, students must attend an information session to learn more information and take an assessment test to place in the appropriate level class. Information sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on the following days. No reservations are required.
