Lehigh Carbon Community College hosts GIS
Day on Friday, April 11, from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at LCCC Main Campus in
Schnecksville in the Technology Center room 202-204. The event is open to
current students and the community.
GIS Day introduces prospective students to
Geospatial Technologies, which includes Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
GIS technologies are essential in
data collection for numerous businesses and careers including engineering, information technology, design and a
variety of marketing positions. The event provides a comprehensive
understanding of GIS technologies and their application.

Noemi Velez of the
United States Census Bureau, William Miner, LCCC GIS Program alumnus, and Matt
Martini, ESRI Account Executive, are featured speakers. Topics discussed
include how the Census Bureau uses GIS data and its applications for
individuals and businesses, experience with GIS in the non-profit sector, and how
GIS assists local governments in building and maintaining land record
information to support local governance and the public.
