LCCC Mindfulness Course Helps Students Handle Stresses
LCCC Mindfulness Course Helps Students Handle Stresses of College Life, especially in these unprecedented times.

Managing college life can be stressful, especially in these unprecedented times. To support student success, Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) is offering a special one-credit class, Mindfulness for Academic Success (SDS 103). The course will be taught by Wendy Barron, professor of media communications and certified mindfulness instructor.
The class will meet remotely on Wednesdays from 2:20 to 3:41 p.m., the first 10 weeks of the semester starting Aug. 26.
The course is designed to address the specific stress that college students feel and will help them gain the tools to monitor their reactions to stressful situations; reduce worry about school, work and family; focus more effectively when reading, studying and taking tests; and learn to live in the present. Specific topics include recognizing worry and what to do about it, learning to respond rather than react to anxiety and fear, reflective writing and techniques to calm your mind in our ever-changing environment and circumstances.
