LCCC Offers Summer 2018 STEM Classes for Youth in grades 7 through 10

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will offer summer classes in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) at its main campus in Schnecksville designed specifically for students in grades 7 through 10. These brain fitness classes, entitled “Pump up Your Brain!” are taught by LCCC credit instructors.

Participants can choose from one-week sessions that teach Pathogens: Connecting the Microorganism Dots and their role in daily life, including the history of antibiotics and vaccines. In addition, students will be using microscopes in state-of-the-art labs and discussing career opportunities. The following classes will be held Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fee is $250 per week; additional materials fee may apply.

Natural Disasters: A Geologist’s View into the Hazards of Our Planet uses hands-on activities to teach how earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, and severe weather can have violent consequences to life as we know it on Earth. The following class will be held Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fee is $375; additional materials fee may apply.
