LCCC Offers Training in Health Care Careers for Fall 2020

LCCC now offers short-term programs to assist students in learning the wide range of career skills required in the healthcare field.

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) now offers short-term programs to assist students in learning the wide range of career skills required in the healthcare field. Classes are held at the Donley Center, LCCC Allentown.

EKG Technician and CPR Training teaches aspects of anatomy/physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, ECG terminology, medical and legal patient contact ethics, hands-on echocardiography and CPR certification training, including lectures on echocardiography, ambulatory monitoring and stress testing. Class is offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m., Aug. 31 through Nov. 2 (no class held Sept. 7). Fee is $1,141 and includes text.

A Comprehensive Pharmacy Technician course is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 18 through Dec. 10 (no class held Nov. 26), from 8 to 11 a.m., for a fee of $1,899 (text included). Learn basic pharmacy terms, prescription reading, medical terminology, drug delivery systems, intravenous therapy and aseptic technician preparation, chemotherapy awareness, dose, calculations, dosage forms, pharmacy law and inventory control, as well as clean room protocols, operational theory and regulatory compliance, while preparing for PTCB exam/certification.

LCCC is offering a Medical Office Administrator program that requires no previous medical office or insurance claims processing training. Learn medical terminology, data entry, medical office procedures, electronic billing and professional communications. Acquire Microsoft Office skills and soft skills, including accountability, respect, self-control and problem solving, along with job readiness and the importance of accurate data entry. Class is held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Aug. 19 through Dec. 4 (no class held Nov. 26-27), from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $1,342; text is included.
