LCCC Earns Bronze Ranking in National Cyber League Competition

Lehigh Carbon Community College’s (LCCC) student team competed recently in the National Cyber League (NCL) 2019 Fall Season Competition and placed in the bronze category.

A total of 689 teams competed this year on a national level. Students Bruce Sorrosa, Cody Buchanan, Elias Saloum and Gunner Sanchez competed for LCCC. The students placed second nationwide in Password Cracking category. They had strong showings in Cryptography, and Scanning and Recon.

The team was led by Rob Ritter, adjunct instructor. LCCC will host another team in the Spring 2020 competition.

The NCL, which was founded in May 2011 to provide an ongoing virtual training ground for collegiate students to develop, practice and validate their cybersecurity skills, is a national competition that has more than 10,000 participants from 400 community colleges to demonstrate cyber security skills. Students participate in capture the flag exercises and technical challenges.
