LCCC's Hosts Transgender Lecture Presentation
LCCC main campus will host a lecture presentation by Ryan Sallans – Transgender Awareness FTM: Scouting the Unknown on 10-8, 7 pm
Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will host a lecture presentation by Ryan Sallans – Transgender Awareness FTM: Scouting the Unknown on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. in the Lisa Scheller-Wayne Woodman Community Services Center in Schnecksville, Pa. Since 2005, Ryan’s transition story, FTM: Scouting the Unknown, has been captivating audiences on college campuses nationwide. During this presentation, he covers basic terminology and language surrounding biological sex, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation, and identities that fall under the transgender umbrella. Sallans speaks of his own transition from female to male, beginning with his childhood and the struggles he experienced.
Ryan has visited colleges as large as 35,000 students to as small as 1,000 students, giving more than 1,000 presentations and training sessions since 1999. He has a master’s degree in English and educational psychology, and over 13 years of professional experience in gender, sexuality and healthcare.
