Gable's event included an online one-hour objective test covering general network terminology and concepts, network operating system concepts, equipment for network access (such as firewall) and network security.
It was the second consecutive year that Gable was recognized. Last year, Gable placed third in the Network Design event, along with his teammate, David Fritz.

Also at this year's conference, LCTI student Michael Rodriguez, of Allen High School, was a finalist in the Desktop Application Programming event. His
event included designing a program to evaluate people for potential employment—a rating scale to assess work habits, job knowledge, and behavior/relations with others. As a finalist, he was required to make two oral presentations.
For many students, the FBLA competitive events are the capstone of their academic careers.
