Man Killed in Route 145 Crash

Ronald J. Toribio, 24, was pronounced dead early Friday following an accident in North Whitehall, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's office.

A 24-year-old Whitehall man died early Friday following a two-vehicle crash on Route 145 in North Whitehall, according to a release from the Lehigh County Coroner's Office.

Two others were injured in the crash, according to state police at Bethlehem.

Ronald J. Toribio, of 1951 Schadt Ave., was pronounced dead at 1:36 a.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Toribio died of injuries from the accident, the coroner ruled.

Toribio was the driver of one of two vehicles involved in the crash at about 10:22 p.m. Thursday on Route 145, just north of Neffs Laurys Road. 

The driver of the other car, Tonia Marie Lee, 22, of Danielsville, and her passenger, Brittany Peters, 21, also of Danielsville, were injured in the crash and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, police said.

According to state police, Toribio was traveling south on Route 145 and lost control of his car as he rounded a curve in the road. He crossed the center double-yellow line, hitting Lee's car, which was traveling north on Route 145. Both cars struck embankments.

Toribio, who was not wearing a seat belt, was trapped in his car and had to be extricated.

Northampton Regional EMS and Northwestern EMS provided transport to the hospital.
