North Whitehall Man Charged with Raping Girl
Allegations against Timothy Merwarth, 48, also say he filmed several incidents, according to state police.

A 48-year-old North Whitehall Township man is accused of raping and sexually assaulting a juvenile girl over an almost two-year period and filming several of the incidents, according to police and court documents.
The acts allegedly committed by Timothy Michael Merwarth occurred at his home and at a Quakertown area motel, according to state police at Bethlehem.
The alleged acts occurred between June 2011 and April of this year, police said.
Merwarth voluntarily turned himself in, police said.
Charges against Merwarth include: rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, sexual abuse of children, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, obscene and other sexual material and peformances, terroristic threats and indecent assault.
He was arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Jacob Hammond of South Whitehall Township and committed to Lehigh County Prison in lieu of $500,000 bail, online court records say.
