Parkland Gets $25K Grant to Help Students Learn

The Parkland School District has received a $25,000 federal grant to speed up the implementation of hybrid learning programs at its schools, according to a release from the district and the governor's office.  

Parkland is one of 34 schools in Pennsylvania to receive the grant, which is designed to provide personalized learning to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. That is done by using digital assessments to measure student performance, and the results help identify any areas of deficiency. 

Hybrid learning allows for learning in small groups. Students are rotated among different education stations, including direct instruction with a teacher, independent learning on a computer and group collaboration with peers. 

The money was reallocated after Pennsylvania received federal Title 2A funds for distribution to schools. 

Also receiving a grant locally was Bethlehem Catholic High School, for $17,500.
