Police: Motorcyclists Fled, Resisted Arrest

Two men on motorcycles allegedly fled from state police who initiated a traffic stop early Sunday. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Two men face charges after allegedly fleeing from police early Sunday on Route 145 in the area of Treichlers Bridge in North Whitehall.

Dean Shook, 43, of Allentown, and Edwin Figueroa, 25, of Slatington were riding motorcycles south on Route 145 at 12:58 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, when police initiated a traffic stop because of their speeds, according to a release from state police at Bethlehem.

Instead of stopping, the men fled south on Route 145 at a high rate of speed, police said.

Figueroa abandoned his motorcycle and fled on foot, but was taken into custody at the Sheetz gas station in Whitehall, state police said.

Shook left the roadway with his motorcycle and drove behind houses on Willow Street in Whitehall. He fled on foot through residents' backyards, with police in pursuit, state police said. A short time later, Shook was taken into custody.

Shook and Figueroa are charged with fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and resisting arrest, according to state police. Shook is also charged with driving under the influence.

The men were arraigned and did not make bail, police said.
