Too much trash/litter

Has anyone noticed how much trash there is in Easton in general? There are piles of it near the high school, near the river, along the roads...

I am  sickened by how much trash there is on the street these days. A lot of it is preventable, it's from people who don't secure their garbage and recycling.  The cans get knocked over, the trash goes everywhere, and no one cleans it up so it eventually ends up in the streams/lakes/ocean. Other people are just terribly lazy and would rather throw it out the window than a trash can. And still others just don't know any better, which saddens me. Please join me on April 13 for Clean up Forks day.  This is part of Keeppabeautiful.org, where penndot gives free supplies for people to pick up trash in their neighborhood.  The good people of the Forks Public Works Dept. will pick up the trash bags in the following days (in Forks township) as long as they know where they are. If you would like to register for this event, please email me at jdkkb@rcn.com, or you can even just dedicate any morning to go pick up trash near your house. Last year we had over 100 bags of trash cleaned up by caring volunteers.

It's a proven fact that the less trash there is on the road, the less likely people will litter there. The more trash they see, the less "guilty" they feel about doing it. Lets discourage them!
