Five Things to Know This Week

Palmer, Forks supervisors holding meetings

Hi, it's Dino Ciliberti, filling in for Takesha Thomas again this week. Takesha is expected to return to action Thursday.

It's been a pleasure and an honor running the Palmer Patch website for her and covering the important issues and events in Palmer and Forks townships these past few weeks.

Anyway, here are some things and items to note for this week:

1. The Palmer and Forks Board of Supervisors will both hold meetings this week. The Palmer supervisors meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Palmer Library Community Room. The agenda looks relatively light. Meanwhile, the Forks supervisors will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the municipal complex on Sullivan Trail.

 2. It's National Fire Safety Awareness Month. With that, the Palmer Township Municipal Fire Department will hold their annual Fire Prevention Open House on Monday, Oct. 3, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Fire Station #1 on Rt. 248 and Crest Blvd. Come and visit your local firefighters to learn about fire prevention.  There will be free fire oriented handouts for the children as well as refreshments for all.

3. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation driver license and photo center on Route 248 in Palmer Township will be closed Saturday, Oct. 8 through Monday, Oct. 10 in observance of Columbus Day. Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.state.pa.us

4. It's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Look for pink ribbons at stores throughout Palmer and Forks townships and help raise awareness by making a donation or wearing a ribbon.

5. The Pierce Memorial Garden in Palmer Township was dedicated last Thursday. Now the township is seeking volunteers to help keep it spruced up. Please contact Diane Grube at the Palmer Township Municipal Building (610) 253-7191 to inquire about meeting dates and volunteer days.
