So what hazardous waste might you have at home?

It's anything we use around the house each day like cleaners, paint and automotive supplies.

All are safe when used as directed but are deemed dangerous when used or discarded incorrectly.

People should look for warning labels on household products for anything listed as toxic, ignitable or flammable, corrosive or reactive to determine whether the items could be hazardous.

The wastes may pollute soil or any surface or underground water.

Animals and plants can experience the toxic effect of these substances immediately or slowly through increased air pollution or the contamination of wells.

All products collected at the drop-off event will be treated at a DEP-approved facility.

Meanwhile, Palmer Township will take curbside waste pickup the week of Nov. 7-11.
