Papermoon Puppet Theatre Coming to Lafayette

Indonesia-based troupe will use puppets to tell a dark chapter in the country's history at Lafayette show.

The Papermoon Puppet Theatre of Indonesia will perform at Lafayette College’s Williams Center for the Arts at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

But don't expect a lighthearted kids show.

Papermoon's puppeteers will be performing Mwathirika, set in 1965, Indonesia's bloody "Year of Living Dangerously."

A 60-minute non-verbal puppet theater experience in intimate scale, Mwathirika transforms the artistry of puppets into a performance experience that is intellectually challenging, emotionally chilling and visually bold," said in a news release.

Tickets for the performance are $15 and can be purchased by calling the box office at (610) 330-5009 between noon and 2 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
