"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Store" opened its doors May 23 in the William Penn Highway strip mall across fromand in line with .
The store touts itself as an upscale secondhand shop for children, from newborns up to age 10. The shop’s walls are neatly lined in gently used clothing and dozens of pairs of shoes. One corner is dedicated to toys, while another section showcases accessories and bedroom décor. The center of the floor displays strollers, baby walkers and the like.
Carolyn Kraus not only works at the store but is the mother of owner Veronica Smith.
“It’s a fun occupation,” said Kraus. “Our items are priced really well.”
She is careful to point out that the store is not a consignment shop--rather, it buys merchandise by paying outright or giving store credit for it. But before anyone rushes over with armfuls of outgrown kids clothes, note that the store buys merchandise by appointment only.
According to Kraus, Smith started "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Store" with some clothes and toys from her sister’s little ones, and it grew from there. The shop was opened on the belief that a secondhand store with quality merchandise is helpful in these tough times. Besides the creative name, the family knows it has picked a good spot.
“It really is a great location,” said Kraus. “Other businesses have been very supportive… We help the community, and they help us.”
The store features a small toy area to keep the kids occupied while parents shop. Pictures of recently acquired merchandise are regularly posted on the shop’s Facebook page, which can be found at TTLS Childrens Resale.
"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Store" is at 3128 William Penn Highway and is open Monday through Thursday and Saturday, 10am to 6pm, and Friday from 10am to 7pm. It is closed Sunday. The shop accepts all major credit cards.
