American Flags Burned Down Around Perkiomen Township By Child: Police

Investigators said they discovered numerous linked incidents before capturing the boy.

PERKIOMEN TOWNSHIP, PA — A Montgomery County boy was arrested this week after police said he lit multiple American flags on fire at homes in the area, state police said.

The first occurred near the 100 block of Equestrian Lane in Perkiomen Township Monday morning. A short time later, a similar incident was reported on the 400 bloc of Glendale Road.

The flags were burned as they flew outside the homes.

A description of the child and his getaway car, a gray Buick sedan, were circulated to officers throughout the area.

A series of tips led officers to a nearby yard where they found the boy walking with a face mask on, authorities said. He was arrested without further incident.

The investigation revealed fires were discovered in the Fox Heath, Greenshire Estates, and Cranberry Estates neighborhoods, state troopers said.

The child's specific age and further information on him were not released by authorities. His motive also remains unclear.

He faces charges of arson and related counts.
