Chimney Maintenance

Helping Buyers and Sellers stay "Market Ready"

Chimney and fireplace maintainance is an important safety and Home Inspection item. I recently spoke with Mike Machukas from Michael P. Machukas Chimney Service and General Contractor (484-880-8698) after he cleaned my fireplace, chimney, and completed work on my chimney's exterior.  Mike suggests the following for maintenance and safety:

1. It's good to have your fire place and chimney inspected annually for cracks and creosote build up.  These can be fire hazards.

2. Mike recommends a cap on top of the chimney to keep rodents, birds and debris out and to protect the chimney from bad weather.

3. Any time of the year is a good time to have your chimney inspected and cleaned.  If the chimney needs a new liner, it's best to be done when the furnace or fireplace isn't being used.

Prepare ahead: have your chimney and fireplace inspected before the colder weather hits. Enjoy a safe fireplace and a less stressful Home Inspection !

Mike has successfully helped clients with large and small Home Inspection items as well as chimney repairs. He's a great resource for any general contracting needs .
