Collegeville to Celebrate the 2012 Holiday Season with a Tree Lighting Celebration

Collegeville's Third Annual Tree Lighting Celebration opens the festive winter season on Saturday, Dec. 1 starting at 3:30 p.m

Collegeville’s Third Annual Tree Lighting Celebration opens the festive winter season on Saturday, Dec. 1 starting at 3:30 p.m., when The Jingle Jog 5K Race speeds off the starting line at Collegeville Station on W. Third Ave.  Details and registration are available at www.u2canrun.org .

Meanwhile in the trail parking lot on E. Third Ave. next to DaVinci’s Pub, area residents can buy unique gifts made locally at the Holiday Bazaar, enjoy a hot mid-afternoon barbeque and hot and cold refreshments, carol singing and local musical and dance talent, and holiday-themed competitions, including a fun Snowball Throw Contest and an Ugly Sweater Contest.  At 5 p.m. Santa Magically Arrives in his sleigh from the North Pole and lights the tree at 5:30 p.m.
