How to select a magician for your Holiday party
A few tips on how to select an appropriate magician for your holiday party.
In the Philadelphia area there are $50 magicians, and $1,000 magicians. Selecting the one for your party could be a daunting task. If you are having a corporate party for several hundred guests the $1,000 illusionist may be right for your event, but if you are having a dozen friends at your house perhaps a close up magician who charges considerably less would fit your event better. You must choose your entertainment taking into consideration the size of your venue, the amount of guests expected, and your budget. A high school kid who is just learning his craft may be cheap but will he wow your friends. A kids magician may be able to make the kiddies laugh, but will he work for an adult dinner party? If you are Googling and calling entertainers that you know nothing about there are a few questions you should ask to see if he, or she is appropriate for your party. A serious entertainer should have a web site, referances, and in general give you a feeling over the phone that you are talking to a real pro. If he, or she doesn't feel right to you over the phone keep calling until you have the entertainer that gives you that warm fuzzy feeling. In general the average price of a good magician for a party runs from $200, to $400. Be sure to ask questions like is his material age appropriate, audience participation, length of show, and most importantly do you work clean? I would also suggest that you book your holiday entertainment at least 60 days prior to your party so you get first choice of act's.
