Perk Valley 14/15 American Legion Baseball team enter last week of reguiar season

Sun July 1 - The Raiders third-inning burst enough to top Norristown Rec, 16-1

The Perk Valley Raiders 14/15 y/o American Legion baseball team defeated Norristown Rec 16-1 on Sunday at Perk Valley HS after pouring on 9 runs in the third inning.  They dominated Norristown Rec pitching as six hitters combined for 10 hits, 13 RBIs and 12 runs scored.  Tyler Krause continued his offensive tear going 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, 5 RBIs, and a run scored.  Danny Quirk racked up 3 RBIs on 2 hits for the Raiders. He tripled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.  Vinny DiLeonardo also contributed 2 hits in 3 at bats including a double, 2 RBIs and a run scored.  Jake Riehs added a triple and scored 2 runs.  Sean Moriarity recorded the win for the Raiders. He allowed 1 run over 3 innings. He struck out 5, walked 3 and surrendered just 2 hits. Moriarity then relieved Raiders injured catcher John Turner on the 95 degree day.  Trent Tyson closed the game striking out 1 and not allowing any runs.  The Raiders stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring 5 runs on 3 singles and an RBI triple by Quirk.  The Raiders scored 1 run in the second inning, and then followed it up with 1 more in the fourth. In the second, the Raiders scored on a solo home run by Gabe Kolb.  Norristown Rec scored its only run of the game on an RBI single in the third inning.

Sat June 30 - Hot bats not enough, PV Raiders succumbs to Wissahickon, 17-8

The Raiders lost a battle of the bats on Saturday at Wissahickon , falling short in a 17-8 ballgame.  Tyler Krause racked up 3 RBIs on 2 hits for the Raiders. He doubled in the first and third innings.  In the top of the first, the Raiders grabbed the early lead, 2-0. The Raiders got a spark in the form of an Adam Gaines single, before Krause doubled, plating Gaines. The Raiders pushed more runs across when Riehs scored on a fielder's choice.  Wissahickon stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring 9 runs.  5 runs in the top of the third helped the Raiders close their deficit to 9-7. A 2-run double by Krause, a 2-run triple by Liam Grande, and a passed ball set off a the Raiders rally.  Wissahickon added 6 more runs in the bottom of the fourth.  1 run in the top of the fifth helped the Raiders close their deficit to 15-8. An error fueled the Raiders' comeback but they fell short.

The PV Raiders 14/15 American Legion team now stand at 13-6-1 overall heading into their final week of regular season play prior to playoffs.  This week’s games include Whitemarsh (away) on Tuesday 7/3 at 7pm under the lights, Norchester (home) on Thursday 7/5 at 4pm at PV HS, Norriton (home) on Saturday 7/7 at 4pm at PV HS, then Valley Forge (away) on Sunday 7/8 at 7pm under the lights. Their final regular season game is against JP Mascaro/Methacton (home) on Tuesday 7/10 at 6pm at PV HS.  Playoffs begin the following week.
