Perk Valley Raiders advance in Montco American Legion Playoffs
After receiving a first round playoff bye in the Montco American Legion 14/15 y/o league, Manager Ryan Hinkle's Perk Valley Raiders baseball team was apparently well rested and ready to play this past Monday night.
They faced off with Norriton who didn't stand a chance, as the Raiders captured a 10-1 blowout victory in seven innings at Perk Valley High School.
Perk Valley’s catcher John Turner racked up four RBIs on three hits. The Raiders never trailed after scoring two runs in the bottom of the first on a fielder's choice RBI by Tyler Krause followed by an RBI single by Turner. The lone run of the game for Norriton crossed the plate in the second inning on a groundout.

The games most spectacular play came in the top of the third. With Norriton’s cleanup batter reaching first on an error and two outs, Norriton’s #5 batter drilled a line drive into the right center field gap where center fielder Liam Grande fielded
it, turned, and hurled a one hop strike from 300 feet to PV’s catcher Turner who scooped and tug the runner out.
The Raider’s posted one run in the third on an RBI groundout by Krause that scored Adam Gaines. The Raiders again scored one in the fourth. The Raiders tacked on two more runs in the fifth when an error scored Sean Morarity to start the scoring, followed up by Turner's single, scoring Liam Grande. The Raiders put the game out of reach in the sixth when they scored four runs on a walk by Grande, a hit by pitch, an error, and a fielder's choice. Trent Tyson and Jake Riehs were also credited w/ hard hit doubles into the gaps and Riehs had an RBI.
