METHACTON COMMUNITY THEATER presents 1776, The Musical, the Tony Award-winning musical written by Peter Stone with music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards. Beginning on Friday, October 7th, the show runs Friday and Saturday evenings beginning at 7:30PM and Sunday afternoons at 2:00pm through October 16th. All performances will take place at the Shannondell Performing Arts Theater, 10000 Shannondell Blvd, Audubon and are open to the public.
1776, The Musical tells the story of our founding fathers and their trials and tribulations as they struggle to declare independence from England and form a new country during the American Revolution. As the Second Continental Congress plods along in the summer heat of Philadelphia, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, along with their supporters, attempt to convince their more reluctant colleagues to join them in breaking away from King George and England. Through music, dance and riveting dialogue, 1776, The Musical is a glorious homage to the brave men and women whose vision led to the creation of the United States of America.
(Please note that due to limited parking at the Shannondell Performing Arts Theater, a free shuttle bus is available before and after the show in the Giant Supermarket parking lot across from the Shannondell entrance).
