In celebration of the 300th anniversary of Henry Melchior Muhlenberg's birth and the the influence of the Muhlenberg family in early America, there will be a revival of an old fashioned parade hosted by The Speaker's House. The Memorial Day Parade (Monday, May 30,2011) will be on Main Street, Trappe from Augustus Church to Water Works Park. The theme is "Remembering Through the Centuries". There will be floats emphasizing the theme. In addition, there will be horses, marching music, fire engines. and other surprises.
Following the parade, a special memorial service in recognition of those who have shaped and preserved America's freedom will be held in Water Works Park. After the ceremony, there will be a short concert by the Philadelphia German Brass Band and an opportunity for group picnics.
