Cockscomb is also known as celosia. Another one of it's nicknames would be brainflower - because it does resemble a brain. They are in season from June through October. Most people are familiar with the burgundy/pink variety but it also comes in yellow, orange, bright red, and my favorite - light green! It has a vase life of 5-7 days
The size of the cockscombs head can vary greatly. I like to use small to medium size heads for bouquets. The size that I choose for centerpieces depends on if the flower is the focus or the accent in the piece. Either way, it is an unique flower that adds texture and color to any flower arrangement.
