High School Ice Hockey: Vikings Carrying Momentum Heading into Post Season
Perkiomen Valley 4, Spring Ford 1
The Perkiomen Valley Ice hockey club got some good news before they took the ice Friday night at Center Ice in Oaks, thanks to a Methacton loss, the Vikings had been guaranteed a spot in next week's ICSHL playoffs.
Perk Valley celebrated by playing one of their most solid defensive games of the season, emerging with a 4-1 win over cross town rival Spring-Ford to finish the regular season with an 8-8-0 record and 16 points.
The Vikings limited a potent Rams attack to just 12 shots on goaltender Dustin Jagiela, who has won both games since serving his two-game sitdown for the extracurriculars following the Boyertown game.

Perk Valley got on the board at 4:42 mark in the first period as Andre Clifford scored his 13th goal of the season on a feed from captain Read Bohan on the only Viking power play of the first period.
After some tense moments in front of the Perk Valley net, the Vikings finally got some breathing room midway through the second period when Zane Himsworth notched his ninth tally of the season and Bohan followed up less than two minutes later with his fifth goal of the season to stake the visitors to a 3-0 bulge heading into the final period of the regular season.

“Those two goals where huge for us,” said Bohan. “Dustin and our defense were playing great, but we when you are leading 1-0 anything can happen. It’s great to get a win against Spring-Ford as we head into the playoffs.”
The Rams cut into the lead as Ryan Booth broke up the shutout with 10:39 remaining in the third, but the Vikings defense buckled down and even managed to kill off two Spring-Ford power plays in the last seven minutes to end the regular season on a high note.
With the win, the Vikings will face off against West Chester Rustin High School on Monday, Feb. 28, at Ice Line Quad rinks in West Chester at 8:15 p.m. If they advance, they will face the winner of the Avon Grove/ W.C Henderson.
