In search of pizza with pizzazz: The New Skippack Pizza

A beautiful blend of cheese, dough, sauce, spices and toppings makes for a great dining experience--but is it No. 1?

Folded into the main strip along Route 73 in the Skippack Village Square--and known for fast pick-up and delivery—is The New Skippack Pizza.

Delving again into custom orders with the single slice persuasion, I mulled over topping choices till I decided on the more ordinary pepperoni with sausage and a separate helping of bacon and pineapple pizza.

In meaty means, pepperoni and sausage find their numbers well proportioned across a slice and baked in perfectly edged minutes, a crunchy crust blending with the light spread of sauce and cheese merging to melt.

White pizza--heavy on the garlic and mingling with plenty of cheese and olive oil--perks the daily need for a portion of vegetable intake with the addition of plenty of broccoli treetops blended per bite.

A twist on the Hawaiian pizza moniker of ham and pineapple chunks, the fruit set aside morsels of bacon takes a play of a pun on the usual combination.

With an unmistakably well-done balance of a light yet thick and hearty crust, these slices do justice to tracks of taste buds.

Clearly operated with a passion for all things pizza, New Skippack Pizza’s slice parade is an impressive one, especially when hunger is pulling at your inner-pizzanaut.

While the New Skippack Pizza nears as a close second, Collegeville’s own Rocco’s Brick Oven Pizza gets first place with its array of flavor-set possibilities made my palate dance up a good storm with my insides.

And desserts saved till the next day-- Rocco’s rich cannoli and tiramisu—enriches dining-out memories.
