It's 'A Whole New World' at Perkiomen Valley Middle School West

Perkiomen Valley Middle School West students performed "Aladdin Jr." this past weekend.

The story follows Aladdin's (Matt Geiger) life in Arabia, and how he is trying to impress Princess Jasmine (Lindsay Lohr).  Having fallen in love with the princess, Aladdin hopes she will choose him to be the prince that she weds.

At the beginning of the performance, the curtains opened, and the first musical number, “Arabian Nights,” showcased all of the cast members. It took place in the town center, where Jasmine tried to decide whom she would marry.  She had a total of four men to pick from, including Aladdin.

The sets were painted beautifully, keeping the spirit of Arabia throughout the play.

Both Aladdin and Jasmine’s voices gave me chills during the beloved song, “A Whole New World.” The whole cast upheld a very upbeat and vibrant energy during the entire show. The entire audience was filled with laughter, excitement and happiness. These kids can act! 

I am very surprised at how well everyone remembered their lines. The audience could tell that a lot of hard work and effort went into making this play a success.  The show was choreographed by Maureen Monteleone, directed by Matthew Valent and assisted by Krista Yerkes.
