Perkiomen Valley HS Swim Coach No Longer Employed Amid Investigation

The school district says they are working "with appropriate agencies as required by law."

PERKIOMEN TOWNSHIP, PA — The head swim coach at Perkiomen Valley High School is no longer employed by the district, the school district confirmed, after an investigation was initiated involving the authorities.

The exact nature of the investigation remains unclear and no details were confirmed by school officials.

No criminal charges had been filed against the coach, Ross Buckwalter, as of Friday morning.

"The District takes all concerns involving student safety seriously," a spokesperson for Perkiomen Valley School District told Patch in a statement. "When matters of this nature are brought to our attention, we follow established protocols and work in coordination with appropriate agencies as required by law."

Buckwalter was in the midst of his second season at the helm of the swimming program this winter.

The school district cited privacy laws and "the confidential nature of personnel and student matters" in declining to comment further.

Buckwalter was previously an assistant coach with the swim program before he was hired as the head coach ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
