Methacton 2, Perkiomen Valley 1

The Warriors took a lead early in the first half on an unassisted goal by Kyra Dubost, but Perkiomen Valley battled back by playing tight defense and pushing the issue in the Methacton zone.

The activity in front of the net and the havoc created by Emily Brooks, Courtney White, Hayley Jampo and Lauren Valerio not only pulled the Warriors goaltender Alyssa Ardman out of the net twice, but also led to a tying goal by Kelly Balzaereit with under seven minutes to play in the half.

Less than two minutes later, Methacton’s Kelly Glatthorn scored a goal assisted by Amanda Broderick regaining the lead for the green and black that they never surrendered.

The Vikings out shot Methacton by a margin of 16-8 and had seven corner kicks to four by the visitors, yet the Warriors emerged from the fray with an important league win improving to 2-0. Emily Armstrong recorded five saves for the Vikings while Ardman posted six saves for the Warriors.
