BioFit Celebrates Grand Opening in Peters

The new health facility is dedicated to improving the quality of life for women with osteopenia and osteoporosis.

BioFit, a new health facility dedicated to improving the lives of women living with osteopenia and osteoporosis, celebrated in Donaldson’s Crossroads earlier this week and last weekend.

The center operates out of the space formerly known as the Lifestyle Health Group.

BioFit features the bioDensity System, a comprehensive and personalized approach to improving, measuring and tracking functional strength.

"This system allows for maximum load delivery to your skeletal system and all of the muscles of the body that enables individuals of any fitness level to encourage gains in bone density and increases in overall body strength," said BioFit chief executive officer Michael Hanlon, D.C.

The bioDensity System load delivery is similar to that of an intense
exercise, however, it carries almost no risk of injury.

With bioDensity exercise, the load is created solely by the individual, called isometric training. Regardless of how hard one exercises, the load involved is never beyond what is safe.

Ellie Field, 70, a retired healthcare professional since 1963, is just one of many BioFit members who's experienced tremendous results
from the bioDensity System.

Field said she has always led an active lifestyle, which included a regular exercise program and healthy diet.

She had a hysterectomy in her early 30s and started hormone replacement therapy while in her early 40s.

“When I reached age 50, my gynecologist suggested that I have a bone density scan, which ultimately showed that I had osteopenia,” Field said. “The doctor started me on Fosamax, and I took one pill daily for one year, then I had a repeat bone density scan. Unfortunately, the scan indicated that the amount of my osteopenia had actually increased, so I was told to stop the Fosamax and increase my weight-bearing exercise and calcium-rich food intake.”

A few years later, Field was taken off of the hormone replacement therapy and directed by her primary care physician to begin taking the Fosamax again for two years, at which time she should see noticeable changes, and she also was administered a baseline bone density scan.

“After two years, my bone density scan indicated that the osteopenia had not responded to the Fosamax and I was encouraged to try
Reclast, which I did,” Fields explained. “However, a subsequent bone density scan later showed little to no improvement, and I was told to continue the Reclast.”

It was about this time that Field read about the bioDensity System in her local newspaper, and she decided to try it.

“My decision was influenced by the fact that all of the medications I took to treat my osteopenia seemed ineffective and had potential severe side effects.”

Today, one year after dedicated use of the bioDensity System, Field is happy to report that her most recent bone density scan showed no bone loss at all compared to previous scans.

“You can imagine how happy I was with this result—the first positive result in about 20 years,” she said.

In fact, Field was so elated with her results, she went on to become the director of enrollment at BioFit.

“Ellie is just one of several patients who have witnessed the dramatic health results that can be achieved through use of BioFit’s bioDensity System,” Hanlon said. “Some of our patients have increased their
strength by more than 150 percent in less than a year.”

BioFit is open to all women in the community, typically age 40 and older, who are concerned about their bone health or suffer from
osteopenia or osteoporosis.

There are several membership packages available at BioFit, which includes weekly use of the bioDensity System, weekly use of the state-of-the-art massage chairs, access to the complete line of high quality nutritional supplements designed to aid bone health and healthy aging and access to all of the monthly educational workshops.

“We want to invite all women who are interested in learning about our program and in determining if BioFit is the right fit for them to give us a call and set up a time to meet with our Ellie," Hanlon said. "We are currently accepting new members who are ready to commit to transforming their bone health and won't settle for anything less than the best."
