Peters Township Swim Club (PTSC) will hold a tryout for those interested in the Club level or Novice level swim programs at the Peters Township High School pool.
PTSC is a Peters Township Recreation Department sponsored organization, sanctioned by USA Swimming and Allegheny Mountain Swimming. They offer a year-round developmental program for young people aged 5 through 18, from the beginning swimmer to the most competitive skilled athletes. A progressive age group program is designed to develop each swimmer in a systematic fashion with a long-term approach of gradually increasing degrees of commitment. Competition is encouraged in a team setting with swimmers of the same general age and ability.
Generally, in order to qualify for Club membership, a swimmer must be able to swim at least 25 yards freestyle and demonstrate mastery of basic stroke technique. Swimmers who are not yet ready for competitive swimming but interested in learning better stroke technique in all four strokes may be eligible for enrollment in the Novice Swim program. Coaches at tryouts will evaluate swimmers to determine whether they are "Club" or "Novice" ready.
