Peters Plans Tree Lighting Ceremony, Other Holiday Events
The holiday season will be in full swing in the township come Sunday.

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA - Since the Steelers don’t play until Monday night this week, there are few excuses for missing the township’s annual tree lighting ceremony. The event will occur Sunday at 6 p.m. at the township municipal complex.
In addition to the lighting ceremony, Santa will arrive in a shiny red fire truck. There also will be crafts and refreshments in the library.
The tree lighting ceremony doesn’t signal an end to the holiday events. A candy cane hunt will be held for children ages 3-5 on Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. in the township recreation center. Kids will search for hidden candy canes, then enjoy hot chocolate and holiday music. The cost is $5 per child for rec center members, $8 a child for non-members.

Parents who need to do holiday shopping send their children to the rec center for Parents Night Out on Dec. 15 from 6-9 p.m. While you purchase presents to put under the tree, the kids will enjoy gym games, crafts and pizza. Cost is $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Registration is required.
