Peters Schools: Kennywood Tickets Sale, Diving Clinic & More

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA - As the school year winds down, there’s a lot going on in the Peters Township School District. Here’s what you should know:

• Two Peters Township Elementary Students have been selected as finalists for Artsonia’s artist of the week award for their age group. You can log on using this link and vote for McMurray’s Avery Bowen (Avary95) in the 4th-6th grade group and Bower Hill’s John Files (John22323) in the K-3rd grade group

The Artist of the Week will be featured on the Artsonia homepage and will receive a commemorative plaque. In addition, Blick Art Materials has donated $100 gift certificates to the winning schools and $50 to the winning artists.

• The school board’s finance committee meets April 30 at 6:30 p.m. The policy committee will meet immediately following the finance committee.

• Peters Coach Ryan Fagan will host a youth diving clinic May 5 and 6 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the high school swimming pool. Participants can experience an introduction to springboard diving and learn the necessary skills to take the next steps to compete in a high school varsity sport. Athletes with backgrounds in gymnastics, tumbling, parkour and/or skating are encouraged to attend.

• The Peters Township School District Kennywood Picnic day is June 19. Discounted tickets will be on sale in district school buildings on, May 8. This year, tickets are $26 each and may be purchased by cash or money order only. Kennywood representatives will be in the buildings at the following times:

• Peters Township High School: 9:45 a.m. - 1 p.m.
• Peters Township Middle School: 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.
• McMurray Elementary: 11:15 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.
• Bower Hill Elementary: 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
• Pleasant Valley Elementary: 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m
