Peters To Upgrade Roads Around New High School, Park Sites

Improvements are planned for East McMurray and Center Church roads.

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA - Road improvements are on the way to accommodate the anticipated traffic from the new Peters Township High School and Rolling Hills Park.

The township is soliciting proposals for a new road, intersection, traffic signal or roundabout near the site of the former Rolling Hills Country Club, where the school and park will be located.

  • A new connector road from East McMurray Road to Center Church Road through the site of the new high school and park.
  • A study to determine whether a traffic signal or a roundabout would be best at the intersection of the new connector road and East McMurray Road.
  • Depending on which of those alternatives is selected, design of either a new signalized intersection with turning lanes or the roundabout at the intersection.
  • The realignment of Center Church Road to accommodate a new stop-controlled intersection with the new connector road.

The proposals are due by December 21.

The Peters Township School District hopes to have the $90 million, 280,000-square foot school open for the 2020-21 school year. The school will have three levels, with the main entrance on the upper floor and the other floors moving downward to the site grades.

The township is developing Rolling Hills Park on about 90 acres of the 180-acre former country club site.
