2 Charged After 14-Year-Old Shot 18 Times, Killed In Philadelphia

Samir Jefferson was shot at least 18 times while on his way home from school Monday. Now, two 21-year-old men are charged with murder.

PHILADELPHIA — Two 21-year-old men are charged with murder and related crimes in connection with the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy this week.

According to court records, Quadir Johnson and Kyair Garnett, both 21, are being held on murder charges after authorities said they shot and killed Samir Jefferson, 14, Monday.

Jefferson was shot at least 18 times at about 3:30 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Wyoming and Rising Sun avenues.

Jefferson was shot at least 18 times throughout his body and authorities found 35 shell casings from two guns at the scene of the shooting.

NBC10 reports authorities are still getting arrest warrants for three more men in connection with the shooting death.

According to Action News, sources said Jefferson was targeted because of taunts on social media, but investigators are still probing the cause.

Johnson and Garnett have preliminary hearings scheduled for Dec. 20, court records show.
