2 Charged With Murder In Deadly Tuesday Night Shooting: Philly Police

Carey Jones, 32, Sherman Carney, 35, are charged with murder and more. A third person involved in the shooting is still being sought.

PHILADELPHIA — Two men are charged with murder and related crimes in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred Tuesday night in Philadelphia, police said.

A 31-year-old woman died after being shot multiple times at about 6:55 p.m. on the 2300 block of South Marshall Street, police said. The victim was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson Hospital.

Charged are Carey Jones, 32, from the 2300 block of Pierce Street, Sherman Carney, 35, from the 500 block of Tree Street.

Police said the two were seen running onto the 700 block of Ritner Street after the shooting.

Shortly thereafter, another man in all black came out of a property on that same block, leading to a foot chase with police.

The man was taken into custody and police said a handgun was found.

Another man was seen leaving the same property and was stopped by police. Police also found a firearm on him.

Early details of the investigation show the victim and a man were walking on Marshall Street when three men approached them, one who was on a bike.

One of the men grabbed the victim, while another held the male at gunpoint.

The third suspect stayed on the bike as a lookout. The man holding the victim then fired multiple shots, fatally wounding her, before they ran from the area.
