2 Eastern PA Restaurants Praised By Bon Appétit In New List

PHILADELPHIA — Two Philadelphia restaurants were listed among "The 20 Best New Restaurants for 2024" by Bon Appétit recently.

According to the publication, the list took six months to create.

"Chefs across the country are wholeheartedly embracing collaboration, pulling ideas from cooks and waiters, their mentors, and other restaurants to create unique menus infused with personality and a real sense of place," the magazine writes. "These dynamics shaped Bon Appétit’s Best New Restaurants of 2024."

In Philadelphia, My Loup and Meetinghouse made the cut.

Philadelphia was the only city represented twice on the list, as well.

My Loup is a French cuisine restaurant in Center City and is the sister restaurant to Her Place Supper Club.

"Chef Alex Kemp’s brand of Quebecois-inflected cooking feels perfectly matched to the City of Brotherly Love: bighearted and maximalist, proud but unpretentious, by turns serious and fun as all hell," the magazine reads. "Only here could an elegant seafood platter feature fat, chilled mussels topped with a hoagie-inspired relish, or a textbook pâtè grand-mère be followed by a garlic knot smothered in plump, extravagantly green escargot."

My Loup was featured in the New York Times' "The Restaurant List," as well ason Eater's Best New Restaurants list back in 2023.

As for Meetinghouse, it sits in the former Memphis Tap space in the Richmond neighborhood.

Meetinghouse offers just a few beers and cocktail and a spartan, but robust, menu.

"A lofty plate of lettuces, delicately dressed and unencumbered by a word salad of garniture," the magazine reads. "Twin turkey cutlets crowned with nothing but a fat lemon wedge, so moist that sauce would only distract. A hot roast beef sandwich that squares up with even the best bar burger.
